The Minelab Gold Monster 2000 series coil skid plate is designed for the 5-inch [GM5] coil. A direct replacement for the standard skid plate designed to be both tough and durable. The skid plates have been tested in Tibooburra by several prospectors and have been given the thumbs up for both durability and reduced noise when scrubbing the coil on the ground. After 2 weeks of punishment the skid plates were showing virtually no wear to the surprise of the seasoned prospectors.
Proudly designed and manufactured in-house here at Tryhard Prospecting.
BONUS: The coil skid plate also comes with a bonus top coil protector that simply attached with thin double sided tape [included]
Note: The skid plates are a snug fit however it is still recommended to use tape to prevent dirt getting under the coil.

On average, after market heavy duty skidplates for my wifes GM 2000 5″ are lasting a maximum of THREE days. Prior to trying the THP Tuff Blue skidplate I’ve spent over $1000 on skidplates over the past four months detecting, at $33 a plate.
We’re working in the Pilbara area of WA on sharp quartz covered ground.
She’s had your skidplate on for SEVEN days now with no sign of it wearing out.
The only issue my wife finds with it is that being soft it won’t slide over rocks, instead, tending to stick to them, making detecting marginally more difficult.
All in all tho, very happy with the product.

Thank you for the positive feedback and we are glad you are finding our skid plates are lasting longer. I agree with the plates having slightly more friction then the hard plastic version due to the material used.
You will be happy to know that we are testing a smoother bottom version atm and so far, have found that this has reduced the friction marginally. Most people have found that once the bottom wears it becomes easier
to use. The Dollar$ saved in the long run I beleive outways the slight friciton encountered.
